Job summary

General Atomics in San Diego region seeks an Electrical Engineering (EE) Manager to lead real-time controls and instrumentation efforts for HEL systems and other advanced platforms. This on-site role requires deep LabVIEW/cRIO expertise and a track record of technical leadership in a fast-paced R&D environment.

You will guide cross-disciplinary teams, own system architecture decisions, and contribute hands-on development as needed, while interfacing with program leadership and external partners.

Qualifications

• Typically requires a Bachelor, Master or PhD in engineering or a related technical field with nine+ years of experience.
• Strong experience with National Instruments LabVIEW and cRIO systems, including LabVIEW Real-Time and LabVIEW FPGA development.
• Ability to obtain and maintain a DoD Security Clearance; some travel may be required.

Responsibilities

• Plan, manage, and technical performance of an engineering unit through all phases from inception through completion.
• Provide architectural leadership for controls systems spanning multiple hardware and software components.
• Lead system-level troubleshooting across hardware, software, and subsystem boundaries; coordinate engineers with specialized expertise.
• Mentor engineers, lead engineering activities, and participate in reviews.
• Remain hands-on to support LabVIEW/cRIO development, debugging, integration, and troubleshooting as needed.
• Communicate technical status, risks, and recommendations to leadership.
