Job summary

Skild AI in Pittsburgh, PA seeks an experienced Camera Systems Software Engineer to own camera integration for real-time robotic systems on NVIDIA Tegra platforms. You will define requirements with external camera partners and build low-latency pipelines.

This hands-on role spans Linux, camera hardware, calibration, synchronization, and API design. Collaborate with perception and robotics teams to productionize the camera stack.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor's or Master's degree in a relevant technical field.
  • 5+ years hands-on embedded camera systems experience.
  • Strong C/C++ on Linux with multithreading and low-latency design.
  • Experience with camera interfaces such as MIPI CSI-2, I2C, GMSL, FPD-Link.
  • Knowledge of real-time vision requirements: timestamping, synchronization, buffering.

Responsibilities

  • Own camera systems end to end, from vendor requirements to integration and maintainability.
  • Define requirements for custom cameras, including sensors, optics, frame rates, calibration needs.
  • Develop and maintain low-level camera software: drivers, device-tree changes, capture-path validation.
  • Debug camera issues across hardware/software boundary (MIPI CSI-2, I2C, GMSL) and timestamping.
  • Design reliable, low-latency camera pipelines for real-time robotics with proper buffering and scheduling.
  • Build high-level APIs exposing frames, timestamps, metadata and diagnostics to perception and product software.
