Job summary

Uber is seeking a Backend Software Engineer for the Surge pricing team to design, develop, and test software applications that power real-time rider surge pricing. You will work with the platform’s ML models and data pipelines, ensuring reliability and scale across global operations.

You will contribute to backend systems, REST APIs, and data processing while collaborating with cross-functional teams. Some roles may telecommute; offices remain a core collaboration hub.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Engineering (Any), Information Technology, Mathematics, Physics, or related field.
  • Proficiency in Python, Java, Kotlin, Git or SVN; SQL or MySQL; data structures and algorithms.
  • Experience designing backend systems with REST APIs and JSON; debugging and production monitoring.
  • Experience with machine learning model training and serving frameworks.

Responsibilities

  • Design, develop, and test software applications.
  • Design, develop, and test software applications using the company's technology stack.
  • Apply technical knowledge to evaluate complex data and projects to resolve issues.
  • Support business operations and improve engineering productivity.
  • Build software components that integrate into a full system.
