Qualifications

• Education: High school diploma (or GED equivalent).
• Experience: One (1) year of general clerical experience.
• Note: A Bachelor's Degree may substitute the required work experience.
• Note: A Paralegal/Associates Degree or 60 college credits may substitute the required work experience.
• Knowledge: Judicial policies, procedures, and forms.
• Skill In: Applying job-related terminology, codes, policies, procedures, rules, regulations, and laws.
• Ability To: Use standard office equipment; communicate clearly; meet deadlines.

Responsibilities

• The Land Records Clerk performs non-judicial clerical and cashiering work in the Prince George's County Circuit Court.
• Examine, record, verify, and index real estate and other documents such as deeds, mortgages, release agreements, plats, homeowner's depository, etc.
• Records incoming Land Records instruments; determine recordability, collect fees and taxes, and operate a cash register.
• Scans instruments in proper sequence, ensures book/page numbers and dates are correct; verify legibility.
• Indexes inputs Grantor/Grantee names, document type, and other index data; provide corrections as needed.
• Handle recording procedures, inquiries, and requests for certified copies; assist with quick-key buttons for copies and mail activities.
