Position Overview:

McLain & Merritt, P.C. is seeking a full-time Residential Pre-Closer with 5+ years of experience in title, real estate, or mortgage industry. The ideal candidate is detail-oriented, highly organized, and able to manage multiple transactions simultaneously. This role involves coordinating with internal and external parties to move contracts from execution to close while ensuring deadlines are met and clients receive exceptional service.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Oversee all steps of the preclosing process for residential and commercial real estate deals, ensuring accuracy and timely completion
  • Prepare and review critical preclosing documentation, including title commitments, closing disclosures (CDs), settlement statements, escrow instructions, and power of attorney documents
  • Order and review title examinations, surveys, UCC searches, HOA estoppel letters, payoff statements, utility bills, and tax information, proactively identifying and resolving title issues in collaboration with the title attorney
  • Calculate property taxes, including those for newly constructed homes using county-specific millage rates
  • Input and update transaction data in SoftPro closing software, maintaining accurate and complete records throughout the lifecycle of each file
  • Maintain and manage detailed transaction checklists, calendars, and timelines to ensure on-track closings
  • Serve as a central point of contact for all transaction parties—coordinating with the closing manager, attorneys, closers, clients, real estate agents, lenders, loan processors, and title companies to collect necessary information and keep all stakeholders informed
  • Communicate regularly with the manager and attorney regarding transaction progress, key milestones, and any issues requiring resolution
  • Schedule closings, manage RSVPs, and ensure all preclosing conditions are met in advance
  • Organize and maintain physical and digital files in accordance with firm procedures and compliance standards

Qualifications:

  • Minimum of 5 years of experience in real estate preclosing, with a strong preference for law firm or title company backgrounds
  • Must be available to work full time, on-site at our Buckhead office in Atlanta, Georgia
  • In-depth knowledge of title and escrow processes, including title review, issue resolution, and document preparation
  • Proficient in Microsoft Office Suite and experienced in using closing software, particularly SoftPro Select
  • Exceptional multitasking abilities, with the capacity to manage multiple transactions and deadlines in a fast-paced environment
  • Strong attention to detail and organizational skills, with a commitment to accuracy and compliance
  • Highly adaptable and flexible—comfortable navigating shifting priorities and transactional complexities
  • Team-oriented and people-focused, with excellent communication skills and a customer service mindset
