Job summary

Orionplacement is seeking an experienced real estate finance lawyer to represent lenders in sophisticated real estate secured financing and commercial loan transactions in Washington, DC. This on-site role collaborates closely with partners and transactional teams.

You will draft and negotiate loan documents, review title and surveys, and manage transactions from diligence through closing. A DC/MD/VA bar and 4+ years of relevant experience are required.

Qualifications

• JD from an accredited law school.
• Active DC, MD, or VA bar membership.
• 4+ years of directly relevant real estate finance or commercial lending experience.
• Experience representing lenders or financial institutions in commercial financing transactions.

Responsibilities

• Represent lenders in sophisticated real estate secured financing transactions and commercial loans.
• Work with partners on complex real estate finance and transactional lending matters.
• Draft and negotiate loan agreements, notes, mortgages, deeds of trust, guarantees, and other financing documents.
• Manage transactions from initial due diligence and documentation through negotiation and closing.
• Review title commitments, surveys, organizational documents, and other transaction diligence materials.
• Identify and resolve legal, collateral, and closing issues affecting lending transactions.
• Communicate directly with clients, borrowers, opposing counsel, title companies, and other transaction participants.
• Support traditional lender finance matters and potentially assist with public finance transactions.
• Assist with bond transactions involving nonprofit organizations, infrastructure projects, and public private partnerships when applicable.
• Contribute to client relationships and the continued growth of the real estate finance practice.
