Job summary

The Merker Group is partnering with an Am Law 100 firm to hire a mid-level Real Estate Finance associate for its Washington, DC, Baltimore, or Tysons office. The role targets 3–6 years of experience representing lenders, borrowers, and sponsors on complex real estate deals, with a focus on client interaction and early responsibility.

This is a hybrid position with three in-office days. A JD with stellar academics and an active bar license is required.

Qualifications

• 3–6 years of Real Estate Finance experience including loan documents, SNDAs and subordination agreements.
• Experience with CMBS and stress debt is a plus.
• Active Bar license in the applying state; JD with excellent academics.

Responsibilities

• Represent lenders, servicers, borrowers, and government-sponsored enterprises on complex real estate finance transactions.
• Review, draft, and negotiate loan documents in a sophisticated deal environment.
• Supervise and train junior associates when needed.

Job description

The Merker Group is working with an Am Law 100 firm to find a mid-level associate with 3 to 6 years of Real Estate Finance experience to join the firm's office in Washington, DC, Baltimore or Tysons. This is an exciting opportunity to work on sophisticated transactions with a team that promotes early responsibility and client interaction.

The firm is offering a $50K sign on bonus with this role. This role is hybrid, with the expectation of 3 days in the office. The firm offers a manageable billable hour target as well. We have placed multiple attorneys into this group and have received very positive feedback.

• 3+ years representing lenders, servicers, borrowers, and government-sponsored enterprises across a broad range of commercial real estate finance transactions.
• Reviewing, drafting, and negotiating loan documents, SNDAs, and subordination agreements.
• Experience with organizational documents, ground leases, survey, zoning, mezzanine loan documents, and related instruments.
• Experience with CMBS and stress debt a plus.
• Experience supervising and training junior associates.
• Experience with multifamily lenders and/or syndicated credit facilities, as well as transactions involving multifamily housing, affordable housing, and/or hotels.
• J.D. and excellent academic credentials.
• Active Bar license in the state in which you are applying.
