Job summary

Heitman’s Chicago office seeks an Associate Portfolio & Asset Management in Private Real Estate Debt to support the management and oversight of a portfolio of commercial real estate debt investments, including senior mortgages, mezzanine loans, and preferred equity.

You will work closely with Portfolio Managers and senior investment professionals to monitor risk, prepare investor reporting, and support portfolio analytics.

Qualifications

• 1–3 years of real estate experience (including valuation experience).
• Bachelor’s degree in business, finance or real estate.
• Excellent communication and organization skills.
• Deadline driven.
• Ability to work efficiently in a fast-paced team environment.
• Proficiency in Argus, Word, Excel and Power Point.

Responsibilities

• Oversee a portfolio of real estate debt investments across senior, mezzanine and preferred equity strategies.
• Assist in the preparation and monitoring of annual business plans for debt investments.
• Ensure compliance with client investment management agreements.
• Assist in preparation of management and investor reporting.
• Conduct analyses across the overall portfolio.
• Assist in investor relations activities including meetings and due diligence.
• Review property appraisals and prepare internal valuations.
• Assess performance of properties and collateral, including on-site reviews.
• Manage loan monitoring with focus on early warning and risk rating.
• Prepare portfolio reports for senior management review.
• Present portfolio reviews to Investment Committee and investors.
• Participate in troubled situations/workouts.
• Special projects as needed.
