Phillips Edison & Company is seeking a real estate attorney to lead the legal work for a growing portfolio of specialty leasing and property-level transactions at our Cincinnati, Ohio headquarters. You will structure, draft, and negotiate leases, licenses, easements, and other agreements, coordinating with Leasing, Development, Asset Management, and Finance teams to enable transactions and manage risk.

Candidates should have a law degree and active bar membership, with 1-3+ years of commercial

Qualifications

  • JD or equivalent law degree from an accredited school.
  • Active bar membership is required.
  • 1–3+ years of commercial real estate experience preferred.

Responsibilities

  • Serve as the primary legal partner for specialty leasing and property transaction opportunities generated by the Property Management Team.
  • Structure, draft, review and negotiate leases, licenses, easements, and other legal agreements.
  • Handle transactions for common areas and alternative property uses including solar, EV charging stations, ATMs, telecommunications facilities, and similar uses.
  • Coordinate with Leasing, Development, Asset Management, Property Management, Finance, and other internal stakeholders.
  • Provide legal advice on use rights, access, site control, revenue structures, and risk mitigation.
  • Support transaction execution including internal approvals and cross-functional coordination.
  • Manage multiple transactions in a deadline-driven environment.

Position Summary

Phillips Edison & Company is seeking a real estate attorney to lead the legal work for a growing portfolio of specialty leasing and property-level transactions. This attorney will structure, draft, and negotiate agreements involving common areas, alternative property uses, and other opportunities that enhance the use and value of our shopping centers. This role will also work with our development team assisting with transactions and feasibility studies. This position is in the Cincinnati, Ohio corporate headquarters.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities
  • Serve as the primary legal partner for specialty leasing and property transaction opportunities generated by the Property Management Team.
  • Structure, draft, review and negotiate leases, licenses, easements, and other legal agreements.

Education / Experience Requirements
  • Law degree required; active bar membership required.

  • Strong drafting, negotiation and communication skills.
  • Strong organizational and collaboration skills.
