Job summary

Jobot in California seeks a Real Estate Attorney or Counsel for a hybrid remote role. Lead K-12 and public entity property transactions from due diligence through closing, ensuring regulatory compliance.

Responsibilities

• Lead legal oversight of real property acquisitions and dispositions for K-12 districts, community colleges, and public entities, from due diligence through closing.
• Ensure transactions comply with statutory and regulatory requirements.
• Review title, zoning, easements and property due diligence.
• Draft, review and negotiate leases, vendor agreements and facilities service contracts.
• Provide legal oversight of facilities operations, school renovations, relocations and capital improvement projects.
• Draft and review public bidding documents, then negotiate the resulting contracts.
• Ensure procurement complies with competitive bidding and public entity rules.
• Structure contract terms to address liability, indemnification and district-specific interests.
• Resolve disputes involving leases, vendors, and suppliers of equipment, materials and services.
• Provide general counsel-style business advice and explain complex legal issues clearly to district administrators.
