Leavenworth County is seeking an Appraiser for the County Appraisers Office in Leavenworth, KS. The role involves valuing residential, agricultural, and vacant properties, gathering data, and defending assessments at informal hearings.

Salary ranges from $21.34 to $22.20 per hour, with full-time benefits, located at the Leavenworth County Courthouse. The position requires knowledge of policies, basic math, and proficiency with appraisal processes and data collection.

Qualifications

• Knowledge of department policies and procedures.
• Knowledge of basic computer use.
• Knowledge of basic mathematics and statistics.
• Skill in understanding and completing accredited appraisal courses.
• Skill in simultaneously handling multiple tasks.
• Skill in the operation of photographic equipment.
• Skill in using a tape measure to accurately record measurements.

Responsibilities

• Identifies the real estate and property rights to appraise residential and agricultural properties.
• Field checks residential parcel, measures improvements and compares with appraisal forms.
• Uses the computer assisted mass appraisal systems.
• Determines neighborhood boundaries by studying socio-economic factors.
• Valuing residential and agricultural land accurately.
• Conducts annual revaluation of residential and agricultural real property.
• Capable of presenting the county position at informal appeal level.
• Performs sales validation on all real estate transactions.
