This position supports the Sedgwick County Appraiser’s Office by providing professional, accurate, and courteous assistance to property owners, representatives, internal departments, and external customers while helping them understand appraisal processes, property records, valuation information, appeals, exemptions, grievances, and related office procedures. The role performs a variety of customer service, records maintenance, research, and appraisal-support duties involving real estate, individual personal property, and business personal property accounts in accordance with Kansas statutes, Kansas Department of Revenue Property Valuation Division guidelines, Sedgwick County Appraiser’s Office policies and procedures, and applicable appraisal standards. This position plays an important role in maintaining accurate property data, supporting annual valuation activities, processing changes, and promoting a positive and professional image of the Appraiser’s Office.
Support Tax Exemption and Grievance Processes
Assist with Annual Valuation and Property Asset Maintenance
Minimum Qualifications: High school diploma or equivalent. Two (2) years of customer service or administrative support experience in a professional office setting. Must successfully pass the following courses within three (3) years of hire date. Kansas Property Tax Law. Kansas Personal Property Valuation and Assessment.
Preferred Qualifications: Two (2) years of mass appraisal experience and/or five (5) years of administrative assistance or customer service experience in a professional office setting. International Association of Assessing Officers (IAAO) Course 101 Fundamentals of Real Property Appraisal. Uniform Standards of Professional Appraisal Practice (USPAP). Kansas Property Tax Law. Kansas Personal Property Valuation and Assessment. Orion Introduction and Overview of Basic Functionality.
