Job summary

The Dermot Company, LP is seeking a real estate accounting intern in New York for a 17-week, part-time internship starting in early September 2026. You will work closely with the Accounts Payable and Property Accountants, gaining exposure to full-cycle real estate accounting and property and corporate operations.

Responsibilities include financial reporting, account reconciliations, and supporting the corporate accounts payable process.

Qualifications

• Currently pursuing an undergraduate or graduate degree in accounting or finance.
• Genuine interest in the operations of multifamily real estate and an eagerness to learn about real world practice of accounting.
• Proficiency in Microsoft Excel.
• Exceptional communication, presentation, and interpersonal skills.
• Ability to work independently and collaboratively as needed.
• Highly driven, organized, analytical, and detail oriented.
• Strong work ethic, integrity, and commitment to meet deadlines.

Responsibilities

• Assisting property accountants in financial reporting duties.
• Preparing reconciliations of accounts.
• Supporting the corporate accounts payable function processes and efficiency.
• Assisting the Accounting Manager and Director of Finance with Ad Hoc projects.
