Job summary

Knife River Corporation is seeking a maintenance specialist to oversee Ready Mix plants across North Dakota. Overnight travel is required to keep operations running safely and efficiently.

You will plan preventive maintenance, manage parts inventories, estimate costs, and troubleshoot equipment issues while maintaining strong teamwork and compliance with safety regulations. This hands-on role rewards reliability and clear communication with plant operators and supervisors.

Qualifications

• High School diploma or GED plus trade/technical schooling or equivalent.
• 5+ years mechanical and electrical experience.
• Ability to provide and maintain proper licensure, medical card and acceptable driving record.

Responsibilities

• Oversees the maintenance of all Ready Mix plant and equipment including the setup of new or temporary plant operations.
• Plans and coordinates schedule of preventative maintenance.
• Maintains inventory of parts and equipment and requisitions replacement stock.
• Estimates costs of personnel, parts and supplies to be used during maintenance.
• To keep equipment running and maintained properly to maximize production and quality.
• Communicate effectively (verbal, listening, written); Self-motivated, team-player with good interpersonal skills; ability to maintain positive customer relations & act courteous/respectful of others.
• Troubleshoot and problem solve situations/problems (material quality, equipment operation/repair, etc.).
• Ensure MSHA, OSHA, EPA, DNR, safety and environmental regulation compliance, Lockout/Tagout procedures.
• Back-up plant operator and performs other duties as assigned.
