Hawkeye Ready Mix Inc. is seeking a full-time truck driver to deliver ready-mixed concrete from the batch plant to construction sites while upholding safety and customer service standards.

The role involves outdoor work, adherence to USDOT and IDOT regulations, and daily truck maintenance. Training and strong safety awareness are essential for success in this hands-on position.

• Requires full valid CDL with clean driving record.
• Must read and follow safety guidelines and job orders.

Responsibilities

• Safely loads and delivers ready-mixed concrete to job sites as dispatched, maintaining customer relations.
• Operates concrete truck following safety standards, delivery instructions, and roadway signs.
• Performs loading/unloading of concrete delivery truck in a safe, efficient manner.
• Works outdoors in varying weather and hours (Mon–Sat during season).
• Performs regular maintenance and cleaning inside the concrete drum.
• Follows delivery instructions from dispatch regarding mix, address, and conditions.
• Prepares truck for delivery and complies with USDOT/IDOT, cleans chutes, returns truck to batch plant; assists with molds/production.
• Performs pre-trip inspection and keeps cab clean; maintains truck.

SUMMARY:

Primary duty is delivering ready-mixed concrete and other associated products from batch plant to construction sites in a safe and efficient manner, while maintaining a clean and safe ready-mix truck.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:

Include, but not limited to, the following responsibilities. Other duties may be assigned as needed.

• Safely loads and promptly delivers ready-mixed concrete to job sites as dispatched while maintaining positive customer and public relations.
• Effectively operates ready-mixed concrete truck by consistently following safety standards, delivery instructions, and roadway signs for best routes to job sites.
• Performs related loading and unloading operations with ready-mixed concrete delivery truck in an efficient and safe manner.
• Works outdoors under varied weather conditions and hours (Monday through Saturday during construction season) as weather and business conditions may require.
• Performs regular maintenance and cleaning inside of the concrete drum as required.
• Follows direction and delivery instructions received from dispatchers regarding concrete mix, delivery address, and conditions.
• Prepares truck for delivery and delivers product to job sites following USDOT and IDOT regulations. Rinses chutes and rear of truck free of spilled concrete and returns truck to batch plant following EAP and IDNR regulations. Assists in concrete block molds and production.
• Performs pre-trip vehicle safety inspection and reports findings to dispatcher at the beginning and end of each shift. Keeps inside of cab clean and sanitary. Performs cleaning and routine maintenance of truck.

QUALIFICATIONS REQUIRED:

Education, experience, and skills: Requires High School Diploma, GED, or equivalent education and appropriate CDL License with good driving record to maintain insurability. Must be knowledgeable about and follow all relevant USDOT, IDOT, environmental, and traffic laws. Must have appropriate heavy truck driver training and understand the specific operating functions and controls for a ready-mixed concrete truck. Must have English language reading and writing abilities to understand written safety guidelines, job orders, and performance standards. Must have good vision and ability to recognize differences in product mix. Must be dependable, well organized, safety minded, and have efficient work habits. Must be able to pass DOT medical examination.
