Job summary

Gateway Community Action seeks a Facilitator to help participants achieve goals in parenting, relationships, and economic security. The role includes recruiting from community and faith-based partners, leading workshops, and maintaining participant files.

Responsibilities include intake administration, data entry, and collaborating with case managers and external agencies. Must adapt to evenings/virtual platforms and varied settings while upholding agency policies.

Qualifications

  • High school diploma or equivalent required; knowledge of poverty context preferred.
  • Bachelor's degree in social work, education, or related field preferred.
  • Proficient computer skills and data entry ability.

Responsibilities

  • Recruit program participants from community and faith-based partners.
  • Assist in marketing activities and conduct workshops and training sessions.
  • Facilitate intake and evaluation and maintain participant files.
  • Collaborate with Case Manager and community agencies to support customer needs.
  • Cross-train to support program needs and transfer data into databases.

Summary/ObjectiveThe Facilitator supports customers’ achievement of their goals in parenting, relationships, and/or economic security.Essential FunctionsReasonable accommodations may be made to enable individuals with impairments to perform the essential functions.Recruits program participants from community and faith based partnersAssists in marketing activitiesConducts workshops and training sessions using prescribed curriculaSecures community venues for program activitiesAssists in producing resource materialsFacilitates the administration of customer intake and evaluationMaintains participant files in compliance with agency PII policy and proceduresWorks collaboratively with community agencies to receive and refer customersCollaborates with Case Manager to support customer needsAssists in planning and developing customer eventsCross-train as a facilitator/case management in order to fill-in as needed.Transfer data from paper formats into computer files or database systems using keyboards, data recordersor optical scannersType in data provided directly from customers and works collaboratively with community agencies to collect exit surveys from customers who have dropped out of classes.Competencies1. Extendedperiods of time sitting in front of the computer.This position requires flexibility to support program and community needs, including occasional evening hours, use of virtualplatforms, and service delivery within alternative or reform school settings. Work locations and scheduling may vary based onfacility availability, county needs, and staff resources.Physical DemandsWhile performing the duties of this job, the employee is occasionally required to stand; walk; sit; use hands to type; reach withhands and arms; climb stairs; balance; stoop, kneel, crouch; talk or hear. The employee must occasionally lift or move up to 50pounds. Employees will be moving audiovisual equipment and curriculum materials into venues and setting up rooms. Specificvision abilities required by the job include close vision, distance vision, color vision, peripheral vision, depth perception, and theability to adjust focus.Position Type/Expected Hours of WorkThis is a full-time position. Regular days and hours of work are Monday through Friday, 8:00 a.m. to 4:30 p.m. Staff must bewilling to work some nights and weekends as required by program activities.TravelTravel is primarily within the five-county jurisdiction. However, out-of-area and overnight travel may be expected depending onprogram requirements. Must be willing and available to participate in required and/or professional development opportunities.When traveling by car, a company/program vehicle must be used when available. If a personal vehicle is used, mileage will bereimbursed according to the agency policy.Required Education and ExperienceHigh school diploma or equivalent. An understanding of generational poverty and low income populations.Preferred Education and ExperienceBachelor’s degree in social work, education, communication, or related field. Any combination equivalent to experience andeducation that would likely provide the required knowledge and abilities to be qualifying.Additional Eligibility QualificationsExcellent computer skills (Internet, Google, Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Use of Web Based Data Management Systems)Additional RequirementsValid Kentucky driver’s license, reliable transportation, and satisfactory background checks as required by the agency andgrant program requirements. Pass a pre-employment drug test and random drug testing as required. State required minimumvehicle liability insurance and uninsured motorist insurance.
