Job summary

Ampact's Reading Corps seeks Reading Tutors to help K-12 students improve reading skills in local schools. You will deliver proven activities, be coached along the way, and tutor pairs for 20 minutes daily, tracking progress and collaborating with onsite coaches.

You’ll gain training, growth through coaching, and opportunities to contribute to the community while supporting students’ literacy development in a structured schedule.

Qualifications

  • Dependable with a history of good attendance.
  • Able to follow instructions and improve based on feedback.
  • Proficient in basic computer skills (email and navigating online).
  • Fluent in English for speaking, reading and writing.
  • 18+ with a high school diploma or equivalent.
  • Citizen, national, or lawful permanent resident of the United States.
  • Able to successfully complete a background check.

Position Summary

Students who read have the power to succeed, and we’re on a mission to make sure every student is a strong reader!

Join Reading Corps as a Reading Tutor and you’ll spend your days at a local school helping students improve their skills. We’ll train you to deliver proven activities and coach you every step of the way!

How does it work? Every school day you’ll see pairs of students for 20 minutes of reading practice. When your time together is up, you’ll help your students return to their classroom(s) and pick up your next pair for tutoring. You’ll repeat until all your students are served.

With the extra attention and support, incredible growth happens. As your students build their skills and confidence, you’ll be there to encourage, celebrate, and cheer them on!
