- $100,000 annual salary, paid weekly, with full health, dental, and vision coverage starting day one
- On-site position at one Alpha campus located in Phoenix, AZ; Oklahoma City or Tulsa, OK; Fort Worth (Keller), Dallas, Plano, or The Woodlands, TX; or Park City (Salt Lake City), UT (relocation assistance available)
- 40 hours per week, entirely in-classroom with K-2 learners
You've completed rigorous training in structured literacy: Orton-Gillingham, LETRS, Wilson, IMSE, or a Master's in reading instruction. You can detect a student's error, pinpoint the phonemic weakness, and build a phonics lesson independent of any scripted curriculum. That's the baseline—not your differentiator.
What sets you apart is that six-year-olds are excited when you arrive. At Alpha, this position is a Guide role first: a dynamic, engaging presence children want to learn from. Your reading credentials open the door; your ability to captivate a K-2 group for a 20-minute session is what secures the hire.
Alpha has redefined conventional teaching. Students advance through academic content independently using AI-adaptive applications, without lectures, textbooks, or fixed pacing calendars. You build small-group reading workshops using live performance data and facilitate motivation sessions that inspire students to reach weekly app targets through school currency, leaderboards, and developmentally appropriate gamification.
Your initial months focus on building rapport with the room. Workshops need to be engaging, appropriately leveled, and demonstrably effective. Student satisfaction and "love your Guide" feedback directly measure this. As you establish credibility, your responsibilities expand: analyzing AI-generated data to refine instruction, documenting fluency and decoding progress, and contributing to Alpha's evolving K-2 reading strategy as adaptive technology develops.
Before an offer is extended, you'll submit a brief video sharing an engaging story for young children and participate in a full-day campus visit working directly with K-2 students. Low energy with children will disqualify you, regardless of credential strength.
What You Will Be Doing
- Creating and facilitating small-group K-2 reading workshops rooted in structured-literacy approaches (Orton-Gillingham, Wilson, LETRS, IMSE, or comparable), informed by live student data
- Conducting daily motivation sessions that ensure 100% of your students reach weekly adaptive-app targets, leveraging Alpha's motivational framework (school currency, leaderboards, age-appropriate gamification)
- Delivering and evaluating running records, fluency assessments, and decoding measures to monitor progress and refine upcoming instruction
- Analyzing AI-generated performance insights from Alpha's adaptive learning platforms to personalize instruction dynamically, not solely during pre-planning
- Serving as the engaging, energetic adult your K-2 students are eager to see each day
What You Won’t Be Doing
- Implementing a published reading curriculum, scripted program, or district pacing calendar; you create lessons directly from student data
- Delivering lectures to a full classroom; all teaching occurs in small, targeted groups while students complete academic subjects through adaptive apps
- Serving as a reading consultant, teacher coach, or district-level specialist; you are classroom-based with students every day
- Managing a traditional classroom schedule - subject-by-subject lectures, homework corrections, test preparation; your time is dedicated to workshops, motivation sessions, and data-informed small groups
- Grading homework or issuing report cards; student progress is tracked in app data and your running records

Nice-to-have Requirements
- Practical experience with AI-powered or adaptive reading platforms (e.g., Amira, Lexia, i-Ready, Reading Plus) for instructional planning or student data interpretation
