Job summary

Ampact's Reading Corps seeks a Reading Tutor to support students in local schools in Minnesota. You'll deliver proven activities, be trained, and coached throughout the program year.

Projects run 20 minutes per pair with multiple student pairs daily, with training and performance feedback. Full- and part-time schedules are available, with a stipend via AmeriCorps and benefits to aid health and education costs.

Qualifications

  • Dependable with a history of good attendance.
  • Ability to follow instructions and make improvements based on feedback.
  • Proficient in basic computer skills (like email and navigating online).
  • Fluent in English for speaking, reading, and writing.
  • 18 years of age or older with a high school diploma or equivalent.
  • A citizen, national, or lawful permanent resident of the United States.
  • Able to successfully complete a background check.

Position Summary

Students who read have the power to succeed, and we’re on a mission to make sure every student is a strong reader!

Join Reading Corps as a Reading Tutor and you’ll spend your days at a local school helping students improve their skills. We’ll train you to deliver proven activities and coach you every step of the way!

How does it work? Every school day you’ll see pairs of students for 20 minutes of reading practice. When your time together is up, you’ll help your students return to their classroom(s) and pick up your next pair for tutoring. You’ll repeat until all your students are served.

With the extra attention and support, incredible growth happens. As your students build their skills and confidence, you’ll be there to encourage, celebrate, and cheer them on!

Compensation & Perks Package

Schedule

We are currently hiring for the 2026-27 school year. Positions run October 2026–June 2027.

  • 35 hours per week (less in weeks with holidays or school release days)
  • Daytime hours (correspond with school start and end times)
  • Monday-Friday (no weekends)
  • Time off on holidays and school release days

Part-time positions are also available at 20 hours per week!

Pay & Benefits

Full-time AmeriCorps members receive a paycheck (stipend) every two weeks. Compensation: $18.89 per hour served and additional perks! Learn more.
