Job summary

Reading Truck Group is seeking a Welder for the 3rd shift in Reading, PA. The role involves welding aluminum and galvanized steel components for standard or special service bodies, and supporting small parts.

You will clamp, tack-weld, heat-bend, grind, or bolt components to achieve the correct configuration, and monitor welding to avoid distortion. Ideal candidates may have prior manufacturing experience, must be able to pass tape measure testing, and should be able to read blueprints when

• Ability to pass tape measure testing.
• Ability to read blue print (if applicable to the line).

Responsibilities

• Weld together structural aluminum and galvanized steel components as specified by blueprints or work orders.
• Clamp, hold, tack-weld, heat-bend, grind or bolt components to obtain correct configuration.
• Monitor welding processes to prevent overheating, warping, distortion, or material expansion.
• Complete inline quality inspection and maintain weld quality per guidelines.
• Cross-train on multiple welding stations to fill staffing gaps.
• Recognize, set up, and operate welding hand and power tools.

Welder - 3rd Shift

Location: Reading, PA

How You Will Make an Impact

A Welder/ Weld Trainee provides welding support as part of a team working on either Standard and/or Special assembled service bodies as well as small parts.

The Nuts and Bolts

• Weld together structural (Aluminum and Galvanized Steel) metal components as specified by blueprints, work orders, or oral instructions in flat, vertical or overhead positions.
• Clamp, hold, tack-weld, heat-bend, grind or bolt components parts to obtain required configuration and positions for welding.
• Monitor the fitting, burning, and welding processes to avoid overheating of parts or warping, shrinking, distortion, or expansion of material.
• Complete inline quality inspection of work and Maintain weld quality in accordance to established quality guidelines
• Complete welding station tasks in accordance to established tak time (if applicable).
• Cross train on multiple welding workstations and perform required tasks in multiple stations when needed to fill staffing gaps.
• Recognize, set up, and operate hand and power tools including welding equipment.

Required Credentials

• Prior manufacturing experience preferred
• Ability to pass tape measure testing
• Ability to read blue print (if applicable to the line)
