Job summary

Reading Truck Group is seeking a Welder for 1st shift in Reading, PA. You will weld structural components (aluminum and galvanized steel) and assist with assemblies for service bodies and smaller parts. The role requires adhering to quality standards and working with multiple welding stations as needed.

You will read blueprints and work orders, perform inline quality checks, and use hand and power tools. Previous manufacturing experience and tape measure testing ability are preferred.

Qualifications

• Experience in a welding/manufacturing setting is preferred.
• Ability to read blueprints or work orders as applicable.
• Ability to pass tape measure testing is required.

Responsibilities

• Weld together structural aluminum and galvanized steel components per blueprints or work orders.
• Clamp, tack-weld, grind, heat-bend and assemble parts to required positions.
• Monitor welding to prevent overheating, warping or distortion.
• Perform inline quality inspections and maintain weld quality per guidelines.
• Cross-train on multiple welding stations and fill staffing gaps as needed.
• Operate welding equipment and hand/power tools.

Welder - 1st Shift

Location: Reading, PA

How You Will Make an Impact

A Welder/ Weld Trainee provides welding support as part of a team working on either Standard and/or Special assembled service bodies as well as small parts.

The Nuts and Bolts

• Weld together structural (Aluminum and Galvanized Steel) metal components as specified by blueprints, work orders, or oral instructions in flat, vertical or overhead positions.
• Clamp, hold, tack-weld, heat-bend, grind or bolt components parts to obtain required configuration and positions for welding.
• Monitor the fitting, burning, and welding processes to avoid overheating of parts or warping, shrinking, distortion, or expansion of material.
• Complete inline quality inspection of work and Maintain weld quality in accordance to established quality guidelines
• Complete welding station tasks in accordance to established tak time (if applicable).
• Cross train on multiple welding workstations and perform required tasks in multiple stations when needed to fill staffing gaps.
• Recognize, set up, and operate hand and power tools including welding equipment.

Required Credentials

• Prior manufacturing experience preferred
• Ability to pass tape measure testing
• Ability to read blue print (if applicable to the line)
