Job summary

HealthPRO Pediatrics is seeking a Part-Time Reading Specialist to provide after-school reading services to a middle school student in New York. The ideal candidate will be a NYS Certified Teacher with a Literacy Certification; additional certifications in structured literacy programs such as Orton-Gillingham are preferred.

Responsibilities include collaborating with school staff and families, conducting screenings and evaluations, participating in IEP development, and delivering reading

Qualifications

  • NYS Certified Teacher required
  • Literacy Certification required
  • Experience providing reading instruction and literacy support to school-aged students
  • Experience working with middle school students preferred
  • Additional certifications or training in structured literacy/reading programs, such as Orton-Gillingham, preferred
  • Ability to commit to the required after-school schedule
  • Strong communication and collaboration skills when working with students, families, and school teams

  • Conduct initial screenings as well as comprehensive evaluations Participate in the IEP process in developing present levels of performance, goals and objectives, and treatment recommendations for students qualifying for Special Education services
  • Provide Special Education sessions through the use of current best practices based on prescribed services in the IEP
  • Maintain all documentation required by the district including, but not limited to, notes, monthly summaries, and annual IEP’s

HealthPRO Pediatrics has an exciting opportunity available for a Part-Time Reading Specialist to provide after-school reading services to a middle school student in New York. The ideal candidate will be a NYS Certified Teacher with a Literacy Certification; additional certifications in structured literacy programs such as Orton-Gillingham are preferred.

  • Status: Part-Time
  • Compensation: $58.00-$62.00/hr
  • Setting: After-School / Individual Student Services
  • Schedule: Monday, Tuesday & Thursday, 5:00–6:00 PM; Friday, 6:00–7:30 PM
  • School Year Position
  • Required: NYS Teacher Certification + Literacy Certification
  • Preferred: Orton-Gillingham or other reading program certifications
