The School District of West Allis West Milwaukee is seeking a Reading Teacher to collaborate with students and staff to raise literacy achievement and support a data-driven approach to instruction.

The role requires WI DPI licensure as an Elementary teacher with Reading Teacher endorsements, at least five years of experience, and a deep knowledge of WI ELA standards. You will lead interventions, analyze progress data, and support teachers in implementing evidence-based literacy practices.

Qualifications

  • Wisconsin DPI license for Elementary and Reading Teacher endorsement (#1316 or #1317).
  • Five years of teaching experience with a track record of improving student achievement.
  • Knowledge of Wisconsin ELA Standards.
  • Ability to collaborate and grow a professional learning community.
  • Strong interpersonal skills and feedback practices.
  • Ability to use student data to drive instruction.
  • Experience with inclusive classrooms and literacy instruction best practices.
  • Excellent oral and written communication skills.
  • Desire for ongoing professional growth.
  • Ability to present to small and large groups.
  • LET RS knowledge preferred; RTI and progress-monitoring tools preferred.
  • Experience with literacy interventions and formative/summative assessments preferred.

Responsibilities

  • Support alignment of instruction to WI ELA Standards and core program implementation.
  • Diagnose and intervene to support developing readers.
  • Assist teachers in collecting and analyzing data to drive instruction.
  • Report data on literacy instruction effectiveness.
  • Ensure systematic intervention aligned with MLSS practices.
  • Support district assessments at the building level.
  • Collaborate with grade-level teams to plan and implement interventions.
  • Build strong relationships with teachers, administrators, and staff.
  • Use district resources to meet student needs.
  • Provide staff development on literacy practices.
  • Model professional behavior for students and staff.
