York County Libraries is seeking a Reading Specialist to work with K-8 students in a part-time, contingent role in York City School District. The position focuses on small-group literacy instruction to raise students to grade level or above, with required PA clearances and certification.

Pay Rate: $30.00/hour I Hours: 29.5 hours per week I Supervisor: Director of Educational Services I Location: York City School District I Classification: Part-Time/Contingent/non-exempt I Schedule: Monday through Friday except for parent-teacher conference days and 6 designated early dismissal days; approximately 6 hours per workday. Also includes 5 designated days of professional development.
For the 2026-2027 school year, the program runs from August 2026, through the end of May 2027. (Not to exceed 174 days of instruction).
The Reading Specialist works with kindergarten through eighth grade students in small groups to improve their reading skills. The goal is to help those struggling below their grade level to increase their literacy to grade level or above.
