  • Job Description: Reading Specialist
    Location: Tredyffrin/Easttown School District
    Position: Reading Specialist (Middle School Level)

    Overview:
    The Tredyffrin/Easttown School District is seeking a skilled and passionate Reading Specialist to support middle students in achieving literacy success. The ideal candidate will collaborate with classroom teachers, intervention specialists, and school teams to deliver high-quality, evidence-based reading instruction tailored to meet the needs of diverse learners. This position plays a critical role in advancing students' reading development through direct instruction, data-informed interventions, and teacher consultation.

    Key Responsibilities:
    • Provide targeted reading instruction using research-based strategies to support students with varying levels of literacy needs.
    • Collaborate with classroom teachers and literacy teams to implement a high-quality reading program aligned with district goals and best practices.
    • Conduct and interpret reading assessments, including benchmark and diagnostic testing.
    • Analyze assessment data to inform instruction and monitor student progress.
    • Support the development and implementation of individualized intervention plans.
    • Coordinate with paraprofessionals supporting literacy instruction.
    • Assist in identifying appropriate instructional materials and resources.
    • Communicate with parents and participate in IEP, Section 504, and other student support meetings as needed.
    • Maintain accurate records and documentation in accordance with District policies and state regulations.
    • Participate in professional development and contribute to the continuous improvement of literacy practices across the school.
    Candidate Requirements:
    • PA Certification as a Reading Specialist or appropriate instructional certification with a reading endorsement
    • Bachelor's degree required; Master’s degree in Reading or Literacy preferred
    • Strong knowledge of evidence-based reading instruction and assessment tools
    • Excellent interpersonal and communication skills with students, staff, and families
    • Ability to work collaboratively in a team-oriented environment
    • Strong organizational and data analysis skills
    • Experience integrating instructional technology to support literacy development
    Preferred Qualifications:
    • Prior teaching or reading intervention experience at the elementary level
    • Familiarity with MTSS frameworks and progress monitoring tools
    • Experience with administering and interpreting benchmark and diagnostic reading assessments
    • Orton-Gillingham Practitioner certification
