Job summary

Northwestern Memorial Hospital is seeking a Reading Room Assistant to support the ED Radiologist overnight, in a Full Time 36-hour per week role.

You will order, track and file radiology films, greet patients, and coordinate with the health care team to maintain efficient file room operations, while benefiting from tuition reimbursement, loan repayment and a Total Rewards program.

Qualifications

• High school diploma or GED.
• Minimum six months of experience in a clerical position dealing with public.

Responsibilities

• Order, track, locate, and file radiology films, jackets and requisitions.
• Pick up and deliver X-rays as needed.
• Ensure all X-rays are prepared for the radiologist to read.
• Ensure all X-rays have been read before filing. Record results.
• Manage and resolve Quality Assurance issues.
• Communicate with other members of the health care team any problems related to maintaining efficiency of the file room operation.
• Reception Desk, Appointment Making.
• Greet patients in a friendly and professional manner to ensure optimal delivery of customer service to patients, members and co-workers on the phone and in person.
• Check patients in for exams in an accurate and timely manner.

Education

The salary range for this position is $17.23 - $24.12 (Hourly Rate)

Placement within the salary range is dependent on several factors such as relevant work experience and internal equity. For positions represented by a labor union, placement within the salary range is guided by the rules outlined in the collective bargaining agreement.

Description

• This is a Full Time position at 36 hours per week and the Reading Room Assistant will be providing assistance to the ED Radiologist overnight.

The Reading Room Assistant reflects the mission, vision, and values of Northwestern Memorial HealthCare, adheres to the organization’s Code of Ethics and Corporate Compliance Program, and complies with all relevant policies, procedures, guidelines and all other regulatory and accreditation standards.

The Imaging Assistant works under general supervision of a Department Administrator or Manager and is primarily responsible for maintaining outside reads for the organization by processing paperwork and images to support the physician activities.

Responsibilities

• Pick up and deliver X-rays as needed.
• Ensure all X-rays are prepared for the radiologist to read.
• Ensure all X-rays have been read before filing. Record results.
• Manage and resolve Quality Assurance issues.
• Communicate with other members of the health care team any problems related to maintaining efficiency of the file room operation.
• Reception Desk, Appointment Making.
• Greet patients in a friendly and professional manner to ensure optimal delivery of customer service to patients, members and co-workers on the phone and in person using skills and abilities required for the age of the person being served.
• Check patients in for exams in an accurate and timely manner.
• Complete CPR forms correctly and/or any additional forms needed.
• Maintain file containing requisitions in an accurate manner.
• Handle challenging situations so that patient and organization needs are met.
• Minimize emotional situations and accommodates member when organization has let member down.
• Ensure member receives proper written instructions and preparation information for exam.
• Retrieve necessary jackets and charts for appointments.
• Pick up and deliver inter-departmental mail.
• Maintain computer appointment schedule and files containing requisitions.
