Job summary

MSCS is seeking an instructional aide to support teachers and reinforce student learning in small groups and individual sessions. The role involves preparing materials, administering tests, and guiding students to achieve academic goals.

The ideal candidate will have an associate degree or 48 college hours or a passing ParaPro score, plus one year of experience with children. CPR/First Aid certification is preferred, with required literacy and foundational skills training.

Qualifications

• Requires Associate degree or 48 college hours, or passing ParaPro Assessment.
• One year of experience working with children in an educational setting preferred.
• Must possess or be able to obtain CPR and First Aid certification.

Responsibilities

• Provides instructional support to students in varied settings (whole group, small group, individual).
• Assists students with lesson assignments to reinforce concepts.
• Guides students in independent study for enrichment or remedial work.
• Attends literacy intensive and foundational skills trainings to build reading knowledge.
• Implements instructional programs under teacher supervision to improve student achievement.
• Monitors assignments and offers immediate reteaching or reinforcement as needed.
• Reinforces knowledge and skills taught by the classroom teacher.
• Reviews missed work with absent students to support learning recovery.
• Consults with teachers on reading instruction using progress-monitoring tools.
• Assists in preparing lesson plans and instructional materials; operates classroom equipment; uses technology to aid learning.
• Administers tests, homework, and makeup work to support instruction.
• Attends staff meetings and participates in in-service training to stay updated.
• Performs record keeping and clerical duties to support teachers and administration.
• Supports general student supervision in halls, restrooms, playgrounds, and campus areas.
• Encourages parent/community involvement in student progress.
• Follows directions from principal, assistant principal, and classroom teacher.
• Performs other related duties to support student achievement.
