Job summary

Hope Network’s Michigan Education Corps seeks a Reading Tutor to help K–3 students build reading skills and confidence, using evidence-based, scripted interventions. No prior teaching or tutoring experience is required.

You’ll train, receive coaching, and work 37.5 hours per week, Monday–Friday, through 5/29/2027. Benefits include a $1,020 biweekly living stipend, health insurance, childcare assistance, the Mi-YDA credential, and an education award up to $3,697.50.

Qualifications

• High school diploma or equivalent required.
• Must be 18 years or older by start date.
• U.S. citizen, national, or lawful permanent resident.
• Ability to pass required background checks.
• Fewer than 4 prior AmeriCorps State/National service terms.

As a Reading Tutor, you’ll work with students in kindergarten through third grade, helping them build the reading skills and confidence they need to succeed in school and beyond. You’ll support students one-on-one or in pairs using evidence-based, scripted interventions—proven, step-by-step lessons that guide you through each session so you’re never left guessing.

No prior teaching or tutoring experience is required. We provide comprehensive training, ongoing coaching, and all the materials you’ll need to be successful.

What You’ll Do

Schedule & Commitment

• Monday–Friday | 37.5 hours per week
• Service term: 1200
• End date: 5/29/2027
• Living stipend: $1,020.00 every other week before taxes
  (~$2,040.00 per month before taxes)
• Education Award: Up to $3,697.50 for student loans or future education
