Job summary

Castle Gate Medical Practice is looking for a Health Care Assistant to support GPs and nurses across a range of clinical tasks. You will take measurements, collect samples, perform basic procedures, and help maintain clean, stocked treatment rooms.

You will provide lifestyle advice, assist with immunisations, and ensure accurate recording of treatments. The role requires teamwork and strict adherence to infection control standards in a busy primary care setting.

Qualifications

• Provide nursing support under nurse manager and GP guidance.

Responsibilities

• Take measurements (height, weight, blood pressure) for health checks.
• Obtain and process blood samples for lab analysis.
• Carry out ECGs and peak flow measurements as required.
• Assist with immunisation clinics for adults and children.
• Sterilise equipment and tidy treatment rooms to maintain cleanliness.
• Ensure stock of clinical supplies and equipment is kept up to date.
• Chaperone patients during consultations when needed.

Health Care Assistant - Castle Gate Medical Practice

The healthcare assistant/nursing assistant/healthcare support worker will provide the following nursing services, in agreement with the nurse manager/senior practice nurse and the GPs Carry out measurements (height, weight, blood pressure, etc) for health checks, such as new patient checks and healthy lifestyle checks (MOTs), provide lifestyle advice to patients or refer to nurse or GP as appropriate Obtain blood samples, prepare forms, store samples and dispatch to the lab Carry out ECGs Carry out blood pressure checks Carry out peak flow measurements Carry out urinalysis Provide healthy lifestyle advice to patients Assist with child immunisation clinics Assist with adult immunisations Provide assistance to the GPs, nurses and other health professionals in carrying out complex procedures, as required Maintain accurate records of treatment and procedures Clinical support Ensure equipment and treatment rooms are maintained to appropriate levels of cleanliness, eg sterilising equipment, tidying rooms Ensure GPs rooms, treatment rooms and minor surgery suites are stocked with appropriate amounts of equipment and clinical supplies Assist with ordering clinical supplies and equipment to ensure stock is maintained Chaperone patients as required during consultation with other health professionals
