Join Our Team at Schrader Environmental Education Center for a Temporary Part-time Assignment!

The Schrader Environmental Education Center, part of the Oglebay Institute, is seeking experienced cook(s) for Junior Nature Camp for the weeks of (July 14-18 and July 21-25, 2025).

PAY: $12.00 per hour, plus (optional) room and board

PRIMARY FUNCTION

To support the mission of Oglebay Institute’s Junior Nature Camp by preparing daily meals. To prepare all food supplies and meals through the duration of camp and tend to all kitchen preparation & cleaning.

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS

• We are looking for a motivated individual to take on cooking duties

• We start at 6:30am, serve dinner at 6:00pm, and typically leave the kitchen around 8:00pm (shift work available).

• These are long, fun days. We serve homemade food, family style for most meals. Some lunches are served buffet style.

• It is preferable that you stay at camp as the days are quite long, but this is not required.

TYPICAL DUTIES:

• To provide direction to camp staff & kitchen staff

• To prepare camper meals

• To provide family style meals for the campers and staff

• To adhere strictly to all American Camping Association guidelines for meal procedures as outlined

• To adhere to all Health Department rules/regulations

• To prepare an evening snack prior to departure

WORK CONTEXT/ACTIVITY

Physical Demands: Ability to stand, walk, and move around for extended periods. Must be able to lift and carry kitchen supplies and equipment up to 25 pounds.

Environmental Conditions: Work primarily in a kitchen environment, which can involve heat from cooking equipment. May occasionally work outdoors for camp activities.
