Job summary

Jobtailor is seeking a Nuclear Engineer to design reactor cores, perform multiphysics simulations, and translate stakeholder requirements into system specifications. You will collaborate with fabrication teams and model core performance over time, ensuring robust, manufacturable designs.

On-site in Santa Clara, CA with quarterly in-person visits; strong background in neutronics, thermal hydraulics, and materials analysis is required. U.S. export controls may apply.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's, Master's, or PhD in nuclear engineering or a related field.
• Experience with core design from a multidisciplinary perspective.
• Experience with an object-oriented programming language, e.g., Python or C++.
• Experience with neutronic analyses.
• Experience with thermal hydraulic analysis.
• Experience with material analysis.
• Remote employees must travel to headquarters in Santa Clara, CA twice per quarter annually based on business or team needs.
• For the first two weeks of onboarding, employees are required to be in person at headquarters in Santa Clara, CA.
• U.S. person eligibility may be required under applicable U.S. export control laws.
• Employment may be contingent upon successful completion of a drug screening.

Responsibilities

• Design performant and manufacturable reactor cores balancing neutronic, thermal hydraulic, material, mechanical, and economic considerations.
• Execute multiphysics simulations to assess core performance.
• Write clear and thorough design documentation and technical reports.
• Perform analyses to validate and verify core requirements.
• Work closely with fabrication engineers to mature designs.
• Translate top-level stakeholder requirements into well-written system functional requirements.
• Model core performance over time through multiphysics simulations and first-principles approaches.
• Collaborate cross-functionally to define performance requirements and provide technical feedback to methods development teams.
