Daimler Truck North America in Detroit, MI is seeking a supplier quality leader responsible for guiding a group of automotive suppliers to deliver quality powertrain components with robust capacity.

You will lead supplier performance improvement, audits, containment actions, and cross-functional collaboration to ensure on-time supply and customer satisfaction. Travel 30-50% is expected, with a hybrid work arrangement.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in engineering or related
• 1-3 year of related experience
• Demonstrates strong verbal and written communication skills
• Ability to present complex technical topics during meetings with suppliers and Daimler management
• Knowledge of GD&T and MSA
• Ability to understand metallurgical requirements and interpret reports
• Strong problem solving skills and a solution-focused mindset
• Understanding of quality problem solving tools such as 8D, 5-why, fishbone, etc
• A customer-focused mindset with the ability to understand and address customer needs and expectations related to supplier quality topics

Responsibilities

• Lead supplier performance improvement projects to increase supplier capability
• Manage timely resolution of supplier technical issues to ensure uninterrupted supply to production
• Document activities related to investigation, disposition, and resolution of quality complaints
• Conduct supplier audits to confirm product conformity and drive process standardization
• Monitor and improve key supplier quality KPIs including DPPM and capacity to support OTS compliance
• Lead or support establishment of short/long-term supplier quality goals
• Champion root cause analysis with suppliers and customers to eliminate recurrence of non-conformances
• Interface and support cross-functional units on supplier quality topics
• Oversee containment actions at suppliers to mitigate quality issue impacts
• Domestic and international travel (30-50%)

This position is responsible for leading a group of automotive suppliers, in providing quality powertrain components in sufficient capacity. This position is within the Global Supplier Management and Material Process Technology department, and will report to the responsible Supplier Management Quality Team Leader.

Position offers a starting salary range of $78,000 – $100,000 USD

Pay offered dependent on knowledge, skills, andexperience.

What You Drive at DTNA

• Work with the supplier to ensure supplier performance is regularly reported and that appropriate and timely corrective actions are implemented.

• Manage timely resolution of supplier technical issues to ensure uninterrupted supply to production.

• Strategically lead supplier performance improvement projects in an effort to increase the supplier capability of consistently meeting customer existing or new requirements.

• Documents activities related to investigation, disposition, and resolution to quality complaints.

• Conduct supplier audits to confirm product conformity, or drive process standardization, waste elimination, and continuous improvement.

• Monitor, communicate and improve key supplier quality KPI’s, including DPPM, Quality Complaints, and capacity to support OTS (On Time Ship) compliance.

• Lead or support effort to establish specific short / long-term supplier quality goals.

• Champion problem solving and root cause analysis activities with suppliers and customers to eliminate recurrence of non-conformances.

• Work to resolve supplier technical issues in a timely manner to ensure continuity of supply.

• Interface and support cross functional business units on topics relating to supplier quality.

• Oversee containment actions at the supplier to mitigate the impact of quality issues to Daimler.

• Domestic and international travel (expected 30-50%)

Knowledge You Should Bring

• Experience working with global suppliers and managing quality across different regions and cultures.

• Knowledge of a foreign language
