Job description

Employment Type: Hourly

Position Summary:

The Material Handling Tech should have previous production or warehouse experience, the ability to work in refrigerated areas, lift 60 lbs or more, and experience using RF scanners. The incumbent must have exceptional attention to detail, basic math skills, and some knowledge of the Metric System. The role requires multitasking, teamwork, independence, and licensed forklift or hand truck operation.

Major Duties and Responsibilities:
  1. Physically retrieve raw materials from warehouse locations, record transactions using RF systems, and return residual materials accurately.
  2. Operate RF scanning systems for material movement, weigh returned materials, update inventory, and assign pallet tags.
  3. Use basic math and the metric system to ensure correct order quantities and weights; communicate effectively in writing and verbally.
  4. Shrink-wrap materials onto pallets, ensure correct tagging, and report shortages for reordering to meet deadlines.
  5. Perform other general duties as needed.
Education and Experience:
  • High school diploma or equivalent.
  • At least 2 years of experience in a production or warehouse/distribution environment.
Knowledge and Skills:
  • Ability to pass skills and written tests for forklift certification.
  • Excellent math skills.
  • Computer literacy, preferably with RF Smart experience.
  • Effective reading, writing, and communication skills.

Physical Demands:

Requires physical strength and dexterity, with tasks including sitting, standing, walking, climbing, squatting, kneeling, pushing, pulling, and lifting up to 50 pounds or more with assistance.

Work Environment:

Shifts typically last 8-12 hours, with potential after-hours and weekend work. Employees must wear PPE and may work outdoors, in adverse temperatures, or in confined, dark, or elevated spaces.
