Job summary

Andersen Corporation in Minnesota seeks an engineer to lead research and development on materials such as adhesives, coatings, and plastics. You will guide projects, evaluate viability, and support manufacturing with new solutions.

Responsibilities include testing materials, implementing new processes, collaborating with suppliers, and applying statistical tools to drive improvements. A BS in a related field and strong communication are required.

Qualifications

  • BS in Chemical, Mechanical, or Materials Engineering.
  • Excellent oral and written communication.
  • Self-motivated with strong drive.
  • Ability to lead cross-functional engineering projects.
  • Experience with statistical tools and DOE concepts.
  • Strong mechanical aptitude and analytical skills.

  • Lead projects related to materials and viability of solutions to meet business needs.
  • Test and validate new materials in product applications, including material performance and durability testing.
  • Implement new materials and/or processes in a manufacturing environment by working with other engineering functions.
  • Work with suppliers to identify new materials and optimize performance.
  • Provide technical support for manufacturing projects, material questions, and/or technical specification development.
  • Drive improvement activity through statistical tools and interpretation of results (DOE, process mapping, Pugh matrix, FMEA, MSA, control plans).

Projects may involve cost, quality, and/or performance enhancements.Pay is based on several factors including but not limited to work experience, education, geographic location, certifications, etc. Your recruiter can share more about the specific compensation package for your preferred role during the hiring process. Successful candidates in this role are expected to earn $78,000-$83,000.Responsibilities:Lead projects related to materials and make recommendations as to viability of solutions to meet business needs.Test and validate new materials in product applications, including material performance, processing capability, and durability testing.Implement new materials and/or processes in a manufacturing environment by working with other engineering functions.Work with suppliers to identify new materials, answer questions related to existing materials, and develop/optimize performance of both.Provide technical support for manufacturing projects, material related questions, and/or technical specification development.Drive improvement activity through a solid understanding and application of statistical tools and interpretation of results for effective solutions (e.g., Design of Experiments, process mapping, process capability analysis, Pugh matrix, FMEA, MSA, control plans, etc.)Preferred Qualifications:Obtaining a BS Chemical/ Mechanical/ Materials Science/ or similar Engineering degreeExcellent oral and written communication skillsSelf-motivatedDemonstrated ability to drive projectsExposure to project management working with collaborative, cross functional teamsStrong mechanical aptitude and analytical skills.Proficiency with statistical analysis using Microsoft Excel, Minitab, JMP, or similar software.PAY RANGE:CULTURE AND BENEFITS:At Andersen, we believe our people are at the heart of everything we do.
