Dental Hygienist Job Responsibilities

• Promote dental health through prophylaxis, screenings, radiographs, and charting, in compliance with the Dental Practice Act
• Prepare patients for treatment by welcoming, seating, and draping
• Provide information and answer patient and staff questions
• Maintain instruments through sterilization and sharpening
• Evaluate patients' oral health to select appropriate materials and equipment
• Perform prophylaxis by cleaning teeth and beneath gum margins
• Detect disease via screenings, examinations, and radiographs
• Apply fluorides and other agents to prevent decay

Job Requirements

• Knowledge of dental procedures and terminology
• Understanding of HIPAA and confidentiality
