Dental Hygienist Job Responsibilities

• Promote dental health through prophylaxis, screenings, radiographs, and charting, in compliance with the Dental Practice Act
• Prepare patients for treatment by welcoming, seating, and draping
• Provide information and answer questions for patients and staff
• Maintain and sterilize instruments
• Select materials and evaluate patients' oral health
• Perform dental prophylaxis and remove deposits and stains
• Detect diseases via screenings, examinations, and radiographs
• Apply fluorides and cavity-preventing agents to arrest decay

Dental Hygienist Job Requirements

• Active dental hygiene license in VA
• Knowledge of dental procedures and terminology
• Understanding of HIPAA and patient confidentiality
