Summary: To render highly professional and technical cardiopulmonary care to assigned patients. Provides quality diagnostic and therapeutic care to achieve the highest standards of care specific to the age of the patient.
Responsibilities
- Provide direct patient care services to patients and families.
- Perform duties and maintain interpersonal relationships in a manner that projects a positive image of the department and hospital.
- Ensure that contact with physicians and other customers demonstrates superior customer service.
Qualifications
- Education Requirements
- Certificate of completion from an American Medical Association Accredited Respiratory Therapy Program possessing CRT certification and licensed by the North Carolina Board of Respiratory Care. All RRT therapists must be credentialed by the National Board for Respiratory Care and maintain the designation.
- Professional Experience
- One year of experience in a Respiratory Care hospital-type setting preferred.
- Licensure/Registration/Certification
- Must be licensed by the state of North Carolina as a Respiratory Care Practitioner.
- All RRTs credentialed by the National Board for Respiratory Care must maintain that status.
- Knowledge, Skills and Abilities
- Good interpersonal and communication skills; understanding of patient care needs according to developmental stages for various age groups.
- BCLS training required. ACLS and NRP strongly encouraged. Strong customer focus.
- Work Environment
- Exposure to blood-borne pathogens and infectious diseases; use of PPE as required.
- Contact with cleaning agents, chemicals, and some toxic chemicals; subject to stressful work periods and long irregular hours.
- Physical Requirements
- Walking and standing throughout shift; lifting patients daily with assistance; pushing/pulling or carrying equipment.
