Job summary

Associated Electric Cooperative's Thomas Hill Power Plant seeks a Reliability-Centered Maintenance (RCM) Engineering intern for summer 2027. You’ll assist engineers, gather data, and help implement reliability initiatives across plant sites.

We welcome students in Mechanical or Electrical Engineering with at least two years toward a BS, strong communication, and a proactive attitude. Opportunities for growth and real-world experience are provided.

Qualifications

  • Two years of study toward a Bachelor of Science in Mechanical or Electrical Engineering.
  • Strong verbal and written communication skills; punctuality and attendance.
  • Experience with engineering software tools such as AutoCAD or MATLAB is a plus.

Responsibilities

  • Assist Reliability and Predictive Maintenance Engineers in tasks to improve plant reliability.
  • Participate in projects that may require overnight or extended stays at MO/OK/AR sites.
  • Support design and implementation of reliability improvement initiatives across sites.
  • Collaborate with multidisciplinary teams to troubleshoot engineering challenges.
  • Gather and analyze data to improve operational efficiency and reduce downtime.

Are you a smart, driven student ready to tackle the fascinating challenges of the power industry? AECI’s Thomas Hill Power Plant is seeking an exceptional candidate for a Reliability-Centered Maintenance (RCM) Engineering internship for the summer of 2027.

What You’ll Do:
  • Assist Reliability and Predictive Maintenance Engineers in various engineering tasks focused on increasing the reliability of our coal and gas plant fleet.
  • Participate in projects that may require overnight or extended stays at our plant sites in MO, OK, AR
  • Support the design and implementation of reliability improvement initiatives across multiple sites.
  • Collaborate with multidisciplinary teams to troubleshoot and solve complex engineering challenges.
  • Gather and analyze data to improve operational efficiency and reduce downtime.
Who We’re Looking For:
  • Current students enrolled in Mechanical or Electrical Engineering (Mechanical preferred) with at least two years completed toward a Bachelor of Science degree.
  • Strong verbal and written communication skills, organizational skills, and a commitment to punctuality and attendance.
  • Experience with engineering software tools (e.g., AutoCAD, MATLAB) is a plus.
  • A proactive attitude with a strong interest in the power production industry.
