What to Expect (Job Responsibilities):

  • Accurately research and resolve payment credits and offsets, including processing refunds to patients, government payors, and insurance companies
  • Provide written responses to insurance companies regarding refund requests
  • Ensure compliance with applicable laws, HIPAA regulations, CMS regulations, and company policies
  • Maintain appropriate documentation and refund records, and prepare customer refund documentation
  • Communicate trends and opportunities for improvement to management

What is Required (Qualifications):

  • High School Diploma or GED required
  • 1-3 years of experience in billing/collections in a medical office or billing/collections office required
  • Ability to exercise discretion on sensitive and confidential matters
  • Demonstrated ability to communicate effectively on the phone, in writing, and via email
  • Basic knowledge of Microsoft Office Word, Excel, and Outlook

How to Stand Out (Preferred Qualifications):

  • 1-3 years of medical payment posting experience preferred
  • 1-3 years of medical collections experience preferred
  • Medical Billing and Coding Certificate preferred
  • Ability to type 55 WPM and perform 10-key by touch
  • Demonstrated computer skills with data entry software
