The Project Manager-2 will provide active support for the development, launch, and support of local municipal offerings related to codes, standards, and zoning.
Remote with preference of NYS or Northeast Region
General Guidance for Expected Years of Experience: 7-10 years
Certifications and qualifications, including education/degree
- Bachelor’s degree required; Graduate degree, PMP certification, Six Sigma and/or Lean certification preferred
Tasks
- Support strategies to develop and deploy programs to support code advancement and compliance/enforcement to improve building outcomes and support operational efficiency with partners
- Evolve and continuously adapt strategies to optimize impact and effectiveness based on results, market data and insights, evaluation, expertise, and critical thinking
- Effectively manage consultant and municipal contracts against established risks, deliverables, schedule, and budget to ensure maximum likelihood of success and prudent use of Client resources
- Develop collaborative relationships and engage with key stakeholders and partners in the codes and zoning ecosystem, including code officials, local elected officials, building professionals, and advocates
- Quantify and document program activities and assess progress against established goals
- Coordinate closely with the NYS Department of State and other state and local agencies/departments on policy and regulatory advancements
- Represent Client in collaborative efforts with private and public organizations and institutions
- Develop subject matter expertise on codes and zoning, and provide support as needed to other Client programs
- Model diligent attention to Client processes and champion process improvements
- Perform other responsibilities as assigned that contribute to the key outcomes of the Codes, Products, & Standards
Agenda:
Development: Creating new programs, tools, resources, or initiatives that help local governments (cities, towns, counties) improve or modernize their:
- Building codes (rules for how buildings must be constructed for safety, energy efficiency, etc.)
- Standards (technical benchmarks, such as energy performance or materials)
- Zoning regulations (rules that control how land and buildings can be used in different areas)
This could include:
- Designing model codes or zoning templates
- Proposing updates to outdated policies
- Building educational resources for code officials or developers
Launch: Implementing these offerings with municipalities, which might involve:
- Rolling out pilot programs
- Hosting training sessions for local staff and code officials
- Launching online tools or guides
- Facilitating adoption of new codes or zoning policies
Support: Providing ongoing help to ensure these offerings are used effectively, such as:
- Technical assistance to municipalities
- Answering questions from local officials
- Tracking outcomes and adjusting the programs
- Coordinating with state agencies or consultants for additional expertise
