Job summary

Brown University Health seeks a Respiratory Care Equipment Technician to prepare, transport, set up and check respiratory therapy equipment for routine and emergency use. You will work overnight shifts in Rhode Island Hospital as part of the hospital team, with responsibilities spanning equipment checks, maintenance, and training new staff.

Role requires reading gauges, documenting patient and equipment data, and adhering to infection control protocols.

Qualifications

  • High School graduate with ability to read, write, and understand English, and to read graphs and gauges.
  • On-the-job training typically 6–12 months to learn setup and use of respiratory therapy equipment.

Responsibilities

  • Makes daily rounds to assigned areas to deliver, check, change and set up equipment such as respirators and oxygen cylinders.
  • Checks emergency carts to ensure equipment is stocked and functional for emergencies.
  • Assists in disassembly and cleaning of equipment and supplies.
  • Performs preventative maintenance and minor repairs (e.g., battery changes).
  • Responds to routine and emergency calls to deliver, set up and test equipment for immediate use.
  • Prepares records and billing charges; updates patient/equipment information.
  • Provides guidance and initial instruction to new employees and students.
  • Observes infection control procedures (mask/gloves) when entering barrier rooms.

SUMMARY

Under the supervision of the Respiratory Care Clinical Supervisor and according to procedure, prepares, transports, sets up and checks respiratory therapy equipment in both routine and emergency situations. MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS
  • BASIC KNOWLEDGE:High School graduate with the ability to read, write, and understand English, to read graphs and gauges, and keep records.Numerical and clerical ability to read graphs and gauges and keep simple records.
  • EXPERIENCEix to twelve months on the job training to learn the proper set up and use of respiratory therapy equipment.
WORK ENVIRONMENT AND PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS

Continuos standing and walking with frequent pushing, lifting, and carrying heavy equipment.Some exposure to contamination from equipment but chance of infection minimized by observing safety.

Pay Range

$19.75-$20.51
