Red Bank Veterinary Hospital (RBVH) is hiring a Cardiology Technician to support our cardiology team in a state‑of‑the‑art facility. The role involves assisting veterinarians with exams, procedures, lab work, medication handling, client communication, and maintaining a clean, organized workspace.
Position Overview
The Cardiology Technician provides comprehensive patient care and supports veterinary medical teams. Responsibilities include patient hygiene, nutrition, comfort, physical therapy, treatment, documentation, restraint, test set‑up, nursing care, triage, discharge procedures, transporting patients, preparing and sterilizing surgical instruments, conducting basic in‑house laboratory tests, and maintaining laboratory and surgical areas. Communication with doctors and technicians ensures high‑quality patient care and excellent client support.
Key Responsibilities
- Manage and provide for the patient’s needs such as cleanliness, nutrition, bedding, physical therapy, exercise, comfort and support.
- Perform required treatments and record observations legibly in medical records.
- Assist in patient restraint, test setup, nursing care, and triage/discharge of patients.
- Transport patients to and from the in‑hospital wards to the pre‑ and post‑surgical areas.
- Assist with cleaning and packing/sterilizing surgical equipment and suites.
- Perform basic in‑house laboratory tests, complete forms, file reports, and clean the laboratory area.
- Monitor daily husbandry activities of in‑hospital patients.
- Communicate with doctors and technicians regarding patient status or concerns.
- Provide after‑care for patients and clients.
- Follow established hospital policies and procedures when handling client concerns and complaints.
- Document legibly and keep accurate medical records in accordance with hospital policy.
- Perform other job duties as assigned.
Cardiology Requirements
- Assist doctors during appointments (loading rooms, restraining).
- Assist with bloodwork, echocardiograms, chest taps, physical exams.
- Assist during surgical procedures (setting up tables, assisting, learning equipment, maintaining, cleaning, and sterilizing equipment).
- Medical record keeping.
- Client communication.
- Animal restraint.
- Enter patient information and results into echo cardio machine and medical record.
- Fax information to referral veterinarians.
- Restock cardio room.
- Clean and maintain ECG/echo equipment.
- Load clients into rooms for appointments.
- Return animals to owners when appointments are completed.
- Scan x‑rays.
- Maintain surgical equipment and keep C‑Arm room clean.
- Operate event and halter monitors.
Qualifications
- High School Diploma or equivalent.
- Completion of an Approved Veterinary Assistant program with an AVA certification.
- Two years of experience working as a nursing team member in a veterinary hospital.
- Fluent English (speaking & reading). Fluency in additional languages is a plus.
Preferred Qualifications
- Six months of veterinary experience.
- Credentialed as a Veterinary Technician (LVT, CVT, or RVT).
Compensation
- Credentialed Technicians: $27–$32 /hr (based on experience).
- Non‑Credentialed Technicians: $24–$27 /hr (based on experience).

Full time: Sunday, Monday, Tuesday, Thursday 8 am–6 pm.
