Ratings and Research Support Summer Intern

Skills and Competencies
  • Interest in fixed income markets, credit analysis, or financial markets
  • Understanding of accounting, finance and modelling principles
  • Strong analytical skills
  • Proficient in MS Excel, Word, and PowerPoint
  • Excellent verbal and written communication and interpersonal skills
  • Ability to work independently, manage workflow, adapt to changing priorities, and prioritize tasks accordingly
  • Strong organizational skills, analytical thinking, and attention to detail
  • Ability to interpret data, identify key insights, and communicate findings clearly through coursework, projects, or prior experience
  • Exposure to programming, data analysis or visualization tools, such as PowerBI, Tableau, KNIME, Alteryx, Python, SQL or similar platforms, a plus
  • Basic understanding of artificial intelligence concepts, with curiosity and enthusiasm for learning how AI tools can improve processes and drive efficiency; interest in responsible AI practices, including risk management and ethical use
  • Relevant coursework, academic projects, prior internship, or other hands-on experience preferred
Education
  • Students pursuing a Bachelor’s Degree, Master’s Degree, or equivalent qualification, with coursework or academic focus in Finance, Accounting, Economics, Political Economy, International Relations, Statistics, Mathematics, Public Administration, or another quantitative field
  • Graduation date of December 2027 – June 2028
  • Ability to work full-time during the program dates: June 7 – August 13, 2027
Responsibilities
  • Support analytical teams on projects and day-to-day work. Examples may include:

    • Prepare financial documents, charts, and presentations
    • Monitor media outlets for news related to special projects or portfolios
    • Provide analytical and research support to the rating teams
    • Contribute to the creation of high-quality research publications
About the Program

The Moody’s Ratings and Research Support (RRS) internship program is a 10-week experience designed to help students develop skills that are valuable for a future career in financial services. This is an internally facing role reporting to a Team Manager. Summer Interns will be assigned to one of the following rating groups:

  • Corporate Finance Group (CFG)
  • Financial Institutions Group (FIG)
  • Public Finance Group (PFG)
  • Project and Infrastructure Finance (PIF)
  • Structured Finance Group (SFG)

This full-time internship offers a comprehensive view of Moody’s business and culture, along with opportunities to build professional and technical skills. Program elements include networking, mentorship, leadership speaker series, and volunteer events. Interns complete meaningful project work determined by their team, contributing to real business priorities while building confidence and practical experience. Throughout the internship, participants receive mentorship from Moody’s professionals, gain exposure to diverse career paths, and develop a broader understanding of the company. As a Moody’s intern, you will gain real-world experience, turn inputs into action, and contribute as an integral part of the team.

Successful Summer Interns may be considered for an offer to join Moody’s as a Ratings Associate after graduation.

For US-based roles only: the anticipated hiring hourly rate for this position is $35/hr.
