Job summary

Ascendis Pharma is seeking a highly motivated Rare Condition Account Manager (RCAM) to lead relationships with Top Centers of Excellence in a defined region. The role focuses on education, access, and long-term partnerships with Pediatric Endocrinologists, Genetists, Orthopedics, and Pediatrics within rare disease settings.

The RCAM will drive therapy adoption through education, reimbursement support, and collaboration with cross-functional teams while navigating complex healthcare systems.

Qualifications

  • 5+ years in strategic account management within rare disease, biotech, or specialty pharma.
  • Proven ability to engage high level stakeholders and establish measurable impact on access and revenue.
  • Experience using product knowledge to tailor discussions to customer needs in a compliant manner.
  • Willingness to travel up to 70% and cover a large geographic area.

Responsibilities

  • Build and maintain strategic relationships within assigned health systems, educating healthcare professionals with product and disease state expertise.
  • Promote on-label indications and efficacy/safety profiles to support prescribing.
  • Develop and execute a territory business plan to meet or exceed quarterly metrics.
  • Collaborate with cross-functional teams to identify and engage external stakeholders (physicians, staff, nurses, coordinators, pharmacists).
  • Lead planning to optimize regional impact for rare disease therapies and referral networks.
  • Coordinate with Patient Services, Marketing, Medical Affairs, HEOR, and Market Access to align goals and execution.
  • Provide field insights on trends, patient needs, and competitive activity to internal teams.
  • Stay informed on rare disease market trends, policy developments, patient advocacy, and competition.

We are seeking a highly motivated and experienced Rare Condition Account Manager (RCAM) to lead key relationships in the rare disease space, engaging with high value HCP's, executives, and other key stakeholders within Top Centers of Excellence in assigned Region. This individual will have a primary focus on establishing long term strategic partnerships with key centers in assigned region by driving education and awareness of Ascendis Rare Conditions portfolio, calling on Pediatric Endocrinologists, Genetists, Orthopedics, & Pediatrics with demonstrated experience accessing and exceeding key metrics within large health care systems.

This role is critical to driving therapy adoption through education, patient reimbursement and support, and long-term value creation in complex therapeutic and health care system environments. The ideal candidate will bring a strong understanding of the dynamics specific to rare diseases, including limited patient populations, distribution networks, and evolving competitive landscapes.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Responsible for building and maintaining strategic relationships within assigned targeted health systems by driving education and awareness through expert product and disease state knowledge that allows them to engage in appropriate face-to-face clinical dialogue with healthcare professionals
  • Effectively promote approved indications and product efficacy/safety profiles to support on-label prescribing for appropriate patients
  • Develop and execute a territory business plan to achieve or exceed quarterly MBO metrics
  • Partner effectively with cross functional team members in assigned Region to identify and engage with key external stakeholders i.e.. physicians, administrative staff, nurses, care coordinators, and pharmacists to drive adoption of Ascendis products within large health systems
  • Lead cross-functional planning efforts to optimize regional impact through access and adoption of rare disease therapies and identify referral networks within assigned customer segments
  • Work collaboratively with internal teams (Patient Services, Marketing, Medical Affairs, HEOR, Market Access) to ensure alignment of goals and execution
  • Provide field insights on emerging treatment trends, patients' needs, and competitor activity to internal stakeholders
  • Stay current on rare disease market trends, policy developments (e.g., orphan drug policy), patient advocacy, and competitive activity.
  • Experience launching or supporting ultra rare disease products
  • Strong understanding of specialty drug (rare/orphan disease) environment to ensure customers' and patients' needs Ability to travel 70% and cover a large geographic area
Qualifications:
  • Bachelor's degree required; advanced degree preferred
  • 5+ years of experience in strategic account management, market access, or health system-based sales in the rare disease, biotech, or specialty pharma sector
  • Proven ability to engage and influence high level stakeholders in key centers of excellence and academic institutions establishing measurable impact on product access and revenue growth
  • Demonstrated use of product knowledge to engage in customized discussions and in-person interactions based on customer's needs in a compliant and ethical manner
  • Documented track record of consistent top performance
  • Strong knowledge of rare disease market dynamics, including distribution, patient support, high-touch care coordination, and innovative reimbursement models
  • Exceptional communication, negotiation, and executive presentation skills
  • Strong clinical and business acumen with the ability to craft compelling clinical patient focused solutions
  • Proficiency with CRM tools (e.g., Salesforce) and strategic account planning frameworks.
Preferred Qualifications:
  • Familiarity with integrated delivery networks (IDNs), PBMs, and specialty pharmacy operations.
  • Proven success of balancing a product portfolio

The annual base salary for this position is$195,000 - $215,000. Actual salary will vary based on various factors such as the candidate's qualifications, skills, competencies, and proficiency for the role. In addition, some positions may include a company car or car allowance and eligibility to earn commissions/bonus based on company and/or individual performance.
