Position Title: Rapid Response Team RN
Shift: Days, 8:00am - 4:30pm
Status: Full time
JOB SUMMARY:
Follows the nursing process (assessment, planning, implementation, and evaluation) to delegate, coordinate, and provide safe, therapeutic nursing care to patients and families. Makes independent judgments and decisions regarding a wide range of routine and complex patient issues, operating under guidelines of the Adult Rapid Response Team Protocols. Collaborates with appropriate disciplines to ensure continuity of patient care from admission through discharge in support of medical and nursing plans of care.
EDUCATION/EXPERIENCE:
Graduation from an accredited School of Nursing with at least two years' experience in critical care.
LICENSURE, CERTIFICATION, and/or REGISTRATION:
Registered Nurse licensure from the State of North Carolina
Basic Cardiac Life Support (BCLS) required
Advanced Cardiac Life Support (ACLS) required within 1 year of hire for Adult Critical Care and Adult Emergency Department
Pediatric Advanced Life Support (PALS) required within 1 year of hire for Network ED, Peds ED, PICU, NICU, and other areas per unit guidelines.
ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS:
- Exemplifies responsibilities and accountabilities inherent in professional nursing practice.
- Collaborates with the healthcare team to meet immediate patient needs and evaluate care outcomes through consultation and information sharing.
- Utilizes the nursing process to ensure quality care, creating a safe and therapeutic environment for patients, staff, and the facility. Provides safe, accurate, and timely medication and IV administration, including vasoactive drips.
- Consults with provider team as needed for complicated patients, communicating vital information and serving as a liaison between medical and nursing teams.
- Assists providers with orders such as x-rays and labs, ensuring proper scheduling and follow-up of test results.
- Helps explain test results and medications to patients, serving as a nursing expert in patient care, assessment, documentation, treatment, and education.
- Assumes responsibility for personal performance and professional growth, providing appropriate care according to Age/Developmental Care Guidelines.
- Coordinates effective patient care delivery, serves as a role model for Code Blue responses, and identifies clinical priorities to improve outcomes.
- Participates actively in shared governance, promotes a healthy work environment, and accepts responsibility for professional development.
- Facilitates timely admission and transfer of patients.
- Maintains competency through ongoing education and professional growth.

- Wears protective equipment as necessary
PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS:
Activities include standing, walking, sitting, bending, reaching, dexterity, talking, hearing, seeing, and lifting up to 100 lbs. with appropriate assistance.
