Job summary

The U.S. Department of Veterans Affairs in Oklahoma seeks a skilled Emergency Medical Technician (EMT) to perform patient assessments, triage, and basic life support in accordance with established medical standards.

You will operate emergency vehicles, document patient information, and collaborate with the Emergency Department team on patient transport and safety. This role requires BLS and EMT licensure, a valid driver's license, and the ability to work varied shifts.

Qualifications

• One year of specialized experience equivalent to GS-6.
• Must possess Basic Life Support (BLS) and EMT license/certification.
• Driver's license valid and unrestricted.
• English language proficiency per OPM standards.

Responsibilities

• Conducts patient assessments and triage to identify life threatening problems.
• Performs patient triage and records vital signs as needed.
• Determines and prioritizes appropriate medical treatment and transport needs.
• Performs physical examinations and collects patient history.
• Operates emergency vehicles and uses medical equipment per protocol.
• Provides basic life support and CPR as required at the emergency scene.
• Documents patient and vehicle usage to ensure medical requirements are met.
• Ensures safety through vehicle inspections and proper reporting.
