Job summary

Leidos is seeking an Execution Lead to drive vulnerability management efforts for the NMCI program in the Norfolk area. You will lead a large technical team, coordinate mobile field teams, and travel to customer-prioritized locations to replace EOL/EOS hardware at scale.

The role requires DoD-level leadership, security clearances, and strong communication with senior Government officials. You will ensure timely remediation and alignment with enterprise network architecture.

Description

The SMIT program is developing a vulnerability management solution focused on the replacement of EOL/EOS hardware and software across the Naval Enterprise Network. Leidos currently has an opening for an Execution Lead for this effort. This is an exciting opportunity to use your experience to help advance the Navy's mission. SMIT is the largest IT services program for the Navy. Under SMIT, the Leidos team will deliver the core backbone of the Navy-Marine Corps Intranet (NMCI), including cybersecurity services, network operations, service desk, and data transport. Ultimately, Leidos will support the Navy in unifying its shore-based networks and data management to improve capability and service while also saving significant dollars by focusing efforts under one enterprise network.

This position requires someone with extensive Operations/Engineering Leadership experience, preferably someone with a previous Network/Transport technical background and working knowledge of a large DOD Enterprise Network Environment. The selected candidate will lead a large technical team virtually and interact directly with the customer. The candidate will direct mobile teams that will travel to customer-prioritized locations to replace EOL/EOS hardware in volume and at scale.

The ideal candidate for this position will be highly motivated and have working knowledge of network operations, fault diagnosis, repair, installation, configuration, cabling, passive infrastructure, troubleshooting, project execution as well as the ability to analyze and interpret numerous policies and procedures. This includes a solid understanding of network architectures and engineering solutions. The ability to work in a dynamic, team-oriented, fast-paced and mission-focused environment is a must.

Primary Responsibilities

Lead complex IT remediation and refresh projects within the assigned locations balancing and setting priorities for resources to meet or exceed scheduled deployments while sustaining day-to-day operational objectives.

Direct interface with senior Government officials.

Communicate critical and time sensitive program-related information directly to senior NMCI leadership.

Build and leverage strong relationships both with the customer and with Leidos peers to develop and execute risk mitigations and issue resolutions.

Responsible for the day-to-day management of vulnerability management Crew Leads and Field/Base Network Engineer (FBNE) staff for vulnerability management activities.

Own rolling 12-week planning horizon and the 4-week firm window.

Identifyand flag critical-path elements (management plane, out-of-band, transit).

Validate that proposed sequences do not create unsupportable mixed-state topologies.

Assess alignment of each replacement against NEN future-state architecture.

Ensure FBNE team completes assigned remediation tasks in a timely fashion and report completion to the customer and SMIT leadership.

Supervise 10-15 direct-report employees which is comprised of employees and supplier partner organizations. Ensure the team maintains compliance for SAAR-N/PAA requirements and recurring training to maintain privileged accounts.

Ensure team executes work under project activities and vulnerability management initiatives.

• Runs the daily stand-up and end-of-day product; maintains the watch log.
• Directs the field team in real time; owns the bring-up gate sequence and enforces gate completion.
• Owns the outcome of successful site remediation with minimal to no unplanned downtime.
• Holds the no-go and rollback decision clock - explicitly, and separately from whoever is troubleshooting.
• Oversees independent verification of kits built by the Materials & Logistics Lead.
• Captures actual durations and discovered conditions for the calibration register.
• Manage subcontract relationships with key program partners.
• Ensure proper time charging discipline is executed for employees and suppliers.
• Approve time in Deltek and SLICS.

Basic Qualifications:

• DOD Secret Security Clearance w/ability to upgrade to and maintain a TS Security Clearance
• Minimum of DoD 8570.01 IAT Level II Certification required prior to onboarding: CompTIA Security+ CE, CDN, ISC2 SSCP, GSEC, GICSP, or CYSA+ (See DoD 8570.01-M Appendix 3 for valid certifications)
• BA/BS and 8+ years of prior relevant experience or MS/MBA with 6+ years of prior relevant experience; additional years of experience may be accepted in lieu of degree at the discretion of the Hiring Manager
• Prior leadership responsibilities in a large-matrixed organization
• Excellent written and oral communication skills
• Experienced and adept at developing and maintaining technical documents, analyses, and reports
• Experienced with preparing and presenting briefings to senior customer management, customer stakeholders, and corporate management
• Working knowledge of defense-in-depth principles, network/HW/SW security architecture, network topology, IT device integrity, and common security elements

Pay Range:Pay Range $131,300.00 - $237,350.00
