Johns Hopkins Applied Physics Laboratory seeks an Electrical Engineer focused on rapid prototyping to design, build, and test advanced shipboard electronics from concept to field deployment. You will work with a multidisciplinary team on rapid development, hardware integration, and system verification for national security missions at sea.

The role requires a B.S. in Electrical Engineering with 7+ years of relevant design and testing experience, hands-on lab skills, and the ability to obtain

Qualifications

  • B.S. in Electrical Engineering or related technical field.
  • 7+ years of design, assembly, and testing of electrical systems.
  • Willing to travel CONUS for meetings/testing, including shipboard assignments.
  • Ability to obtain interim Secret and Top Secret security clearances.
  • Experience with PCB design and PCB design tools (Altium Designer).
  • Hands-on lab skills with test equipment (spectrum/ network analyzers, oscilloscopes).

Responsibilities

  • Create rapid, custom maritime electrical solutions and prototypes.
  • Design maritime electrical systems using analog, digital, and RF concepts.
  • Test and verify designs on lab benches and Navy platforms.
  • Document designs and technical reports for integration and installation.
  • Develop new technologies and prototypes for field deployment.
