Job summary

Universal Technical Resource Services, Inc. is seeking a Range Technician at Picatinny Arsenal to support lab and test operations.

The role involves setting up fixtures, handling ammunition and ballistic targets, and using basic machining tools in a controlled government environment. The ideal candidate will possess mechanical aptitude, the ability to pass medical surveillance for energetic materials, and a willingness to obtain a DoD security clearance.

Qualifications

  • High School diploma required; college degree not required but beneficial.
  • Must be able to obtain a DoD security clearance.
  • Pass drug and alcohol testing.

Responsibilities

  • Loading of small arms ammunition.
  • Preparing, measuring and disposing of ballistic targets.
  • Assemble and Set up, Test Fixtures.
  • Operate manual machine tools as well as hand tools.
  • Report production status daily.
  • Perform basic quality checks on machined parts using micrometers, height gauges, gauge pins, and calipers.
  • Basic laboratory functions.
  • Basic custodian functions.
  • Provide support as required by project officers.

Job description

Universal Technical Resource Services, Inc. (UTRS) is currently seeking a Range Technician to join our team! This position is a full-time position available with growing technology and government contracting firm. This person is responsible for setting up and assembling test fixtures, various mechanical components and other laboratory tasks. This position is located at Picatinny Arsenal.

What will you be doing?

Duties include:

  • Loading of small arms ammunition
  • Preparing, measuring and disposing of ballistic targets
  • Assemble and Set up, Test Fixtures
  • Operate manual machine tools as well as hand tools
  • Report production status daily
  • Perform basic quality checks on machined parts using all types of Micrometers, height gages, gage pins, and venire calipers
  • Basic laboratory functions
  • Basic custodian functions
  • Providing support as required by the project officers
What skills will the ideal candidate have to be successful?

This position will require the following skillsets and experience:

  • Must be able to obtain a clearance through the DoD security background investigation process
  • Pass drug and alcohol testing
  • Must have good mechanical skills and experience
  • Must be able to pass medical surveillance testing specific to job duties working with energetic materials
  • High standard of quality and efficiency
  • Effective communication and interpersonal skills
  • Must be a team player, able to multitask and prioritize accordingly
  • Basic PC knowledge (MS Outlook, Excel, Word, PowerPoint)
  • Must be able to work in a physical capacity, lifting and moving heavy object
  • Have firearms and or machine shop experience
  • Firearms experience can be from military or law enforcement experience or hobbyist/hunting
  • Will be required to handle small arms propellant
  • Must be able to take and pass AMMO-45 online certification and appropriate safety training provided by the test facility
  • Must have a valid NJ driver’s license and be able to obtain a government driver’s license
  • High School diploma required, College degree not required but beneficial
  • Past or present military personnel are encouraged to apply
  • Must be a US Citizen and able to obtain a Security Clearance
