Job summary

Corps Solutions is seeking a Range Safety Specialist to provide management and operational support of Marine Corps ranges. The ideal candidate must have technical knowledge of range safety policies, excellent communication skills, and a minimum of one year's experience in Range Safety and two years in military service.

This position requires a high school diploma or equivalent, completion of specific training courses, and a Secret security clearance. The role may involve prolonged outdoor exposure and requires daily travel.

Job description

Overview

The Range Safety Specialist reports to and receives work direction derivatives from the Project Manager. The Range Safety Specialist shall provide management and operational support of Marine Corps ranges with knowledgeable personnel to provide the expertise and capability necessary to analyze, execute and better implement and provide an efficient, effective training program addressing ground operations, for current and future capabilities, including but not limited to specific disciplines in the following:

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES

Provide technical knowledge of Marine Corps Ground Range Safety IAW MCO 3570.1D to ensure the deconfliction of ground range training and other activities occurring on a range or ranges within the Marine Corps.

Provide technical knowledge and expertise of multi-service ground to ground weapons and delivery characteristics.

Provide technical knowledge and expertise concerning the use of the RMTK Surface Danger Zone (SDZ) Tool IAW MCO 3570.1D.

Provide technical knowledge and expertise of Marine Corps range safety policy and how that policy relates to DoD policy concerning ground to ground munitions.

Provide knowledge and support to RTAM and Installation Range Management for the purposes of providing, advisory, programmatic, and training implementation, development and management of current and future operational ground range policies and programs IAW MCO 3550.10 as it pertains to ground range safety.

Provide subject matter expertise to support review and analysis of issues concerning location and size of training related danger zones (i.e. surface danger zones, weapon danger zones, explosive danger zones, laser surface danger zones, and noise areas) and how danger zones relate to the context of other installation features (boundaries, areas of critical concern etc.).

Provide subject matter expertise in the development of range safety ground to ground operational training range policies and programs and in planning and execution of ground range safety as it pertains to ground range certification IAW MCO 3550.9A.

Provide subject matter expertise in the planning, development, and execution of ground range safety training on operational ranges.

Develop updated ground range safety guidance, SOUMs and draft updates to and IAW MCO 3570.1D.

Provide analytical support for range safety and design that extends outside the continental United States (OCONUS) to enhance international training capability.

Provide subject matter expertise in the development, implementation, and revision of ARSP-1, 2, and 3.

EDUCATION

High school diploma or equivalent is the minimum acceptable education.

Required: Range Safety distance learning course (MarineNet).

Graduate of the RFMSS Functional Administrator course (preferred).

Graduate of the Inter‑Service Range Safety Course (preferred).

Graduate of the Range Manager Tool Kit (RMTK) – formerly Geographic Information System (GIS) for Range Managers Course (preferred).

Graduate of the Weapons Danger Zone (WDZ) Course (preferred).

Graduate of the Range Airspace Manager Course (preferred).

EXPERIENCE

One year of Range Safety experience with two years of military experience.

The ideal candidate is a former SNCO or Officer who has experience as a Range Safety Officer or Officer in Charge.

WORKING CONDITIONS

Prolonged outdoor exposure to the elements.

Daily travel in training areas may be required.

Qualification as an authorized company driver is required.

All authorized company drivers must have a valid driver’s license, current automobile insurance, and a driving record that is acceptable to the company’s auto insurance provider.

A Secret security clearance is required for this position.
